I have a character concept I've been working on for a while; a wizard who replicates druidic magic through arcane means. I was planning to make her a Theurgy Wizard (Unearthed Arcana 33) with the Cleric's Nature domain.
Theurgy Wizard is kinda busted... Being able to copy cleric spells after leveling up expands the Wizard's already absurd spell list, but on the other hand, Nature domain is infamously weak, with a poor lv1 ability, an interesting spell list, horribly situational Channel Divinity option, an actually very powerful lv6 ability and a flat out useless lv17 ability for a wizard (unless is tweaked into being triggered by cantrips as if using Blessed Strikes instead of Divine Strike). But i don't think Nature domain breaks the game as much as other options, such as Tempest/Zeal Domain (which can basically NUKE people) or Order Domain (which can cast a wider variety of buffs to trigger the reaction attacks and has a lot more options for enchantment spells to cast as bonus action)
What do you guys think about Theurgy Wizard with the Nature domain? Is it strong to the point of invalidating fellow clerics and druids ? Is it too weak in comparison with other wizard subclasses?
Would you, as a GM, allow it at your table?
Do you have other suggestions on how i could apply this character concept?
