I am about to take a wizard into the Descent into Avernus campaign. I had thought to make an Illusionist but I'm having second thoughts given the prevalence of Truesight on our most likely antagonists. Does Truesight neuter all Illusion spells or will some still work?
Phantasmal Force and Phantasmal Killer seem like they could still work as they are within the mind rather than visual but ....
Phantasmal Force would not work, but Phantasmal Killer might, but I doubt it. It would depend on your DM's interpretation of the spell.
...
Weird (spell says you create illusions in their mind, so Truesight shouldn't help any)
Phantasmal Force and Weird both use the "in the mind" language, so I think to be consistent one would have to allow either both of them or neither of them.
Phantasmal Killer doesn't use that specific language, but it seems like it's intended to be the same kind of thing as Phantasmal Force, so I'd throw it in the same bucket too.

Any thoughts people? Cheers in advance.

Other Illusion spells that should work regardless of enemies with Truesight:
Color Spray
Magic Mouth
Shadow Blade
Fear and Hypnotic Pattern (most likely)
Phantom Steed
Creation
Simulacrum
Vision of Elapsing Eons

Thanks for your replies guys.
Interesting - reading Truesight it actually says it sees through visual illusions not all illusions. So ones in the mind as you suggested should work.
Nice tip thanks
