My DM recently turned me on to the Theurgy arcane tradition available in Unearthed Arcana as a possibility for my new wizard character, based on her backstory. It seems like it would fit, but I wanted to get some feedback from other players first because it is an unofficial tradition and I'm not sure how balanced/useful it actually is.
For some context, my character is a wizard whose family (including her) have a close relationship with Wee Jas (LN goddess of death and beauty). She took up wizardry after finding her dead mother's research notes, and she's obsessed with finding out what the difference is between true resurrection spells and spells that create undead. (I.e. why do some spells return consciousness and soul and reanimate the body, while some spells just do one or two of those three things.) Originally I was going to play her in the Necromancy tradition and, depending on how in-game character development goes, eventually cross-class into a cleric of the Grave domain. However, if I take the Theurgy tradition then I'd have access to those Grave cleric spells without multiclassing.
What are y'all's thoughts? Have you played a Theurge? Did you find the mix of divine and arcane spells useful, or do you think multiclassing is a more effective way to get that effect?

"We're the perfect combination of expendable and unkillable!"
Multiclassing hampers your overall level progression in some ways... if you are a fighter/rogue, 2/2 then you don't get your first ASI yet while any pure class will at 4th level.
I would give the Theurgy class a try if I were you, look for ways to make it work. The accelerated progression next to that of multiclassing should be reason enough.
