So long and short built a Goliath Warlock2 (Cha15) Who is trying to change his ways Wizard1 (Int17) the next level rapidly approaching. Never mind in house rule each level above first the Patron has equivalent of a Geas over the character ... and I still keep thinking about taking him to 3rd or 4th level Warlock to retap his envocations and keep thinking a Pact might be fun, but not todays issue.
For now I'm weighing the pros and cons of which Arcana School for the character as we approach the next level up. So far combat has been very regular with danger level fairly moderate so far. No ones died yet, and death throws have happen a few times but usually I use the character as team scout (Raven Sentinel) and magic detector (envocation) and have planned on remaining primarily in a support role. Though having some offense other than Eldritch blast will be welcome.
So far I've pretty much narrowed it down to Divination and War Magic. I think the former fits the characters thirst for knowledge almost at any cost, but the latter seems to work better with his Warlock (at will Mage Armor) and Racial ability. Any ideas about anything above is appreciated as I've talked my way around this character to a decision paralysis level ;)
Divination's level 2 Portent ability is VERY useful. While it's only twice a day, you can use almost any role, and it gives you/your allies opportunities to have almost guaranteed success on risky things you might not otherwise try. In the reverse, if you have a low roll, it's great for protecting allies/helpless NPC's. If you have a support bend, I highly recommend it.
I'm playing a divination wizard that functions as our rogue (ish). Portent helps shore up the lack of expertise on my skills.
And the Expert Divination ability at 6th level gets expended spell slots back... that is awesome. I mean there are some conditions that have to be met, casting a divination spell of 2nd level or higher, and to get the spell slot back you must have used it already, but still... extra spell slots = being able to cast more spells.
My one and only wizard is from the school of divination. I think it's one of the most interesting, despite lack of divination spells.
Portent is just soo versatile and useful.
My thoughts exactly! I even planned on making a physical copy of her spell book, and attached have a vile-esk thing with the two rolls I make for portent. I mean you could just write down the numbers, but this is more fun.

Halfling Divination wizard. Add Lucky feat and halflign racial feats later and you have the potential for a real monster character. :)
My DM's hated the ones I created for the campaigns.
