I will increase INT to 20 once I level up, and as a 4th cantrip take Minor Illusion. For the new spells I am considering the following: Suggestion, Invisibility, Enlarge/Reduce, Shatter, Web, Detect Thoughts, Alter Self. Besides me the party is composed by a Barbarian, a Druid, a Warlock, a Paladin, and a Bard.
Shatter may be not that good given that I’ll take Fireball at lvl 5 as a AoE; the Bard does a good job already at Charming NPC and monsters so Suggestion may be superfluous; same for Web, the Druid has a similar spell (can’t remember the name) and I have grease so that may be covered already. At the moment I am thinking Alter Self for role playing purposes and Enlarge to make the Goliath Barbarian 5 meters tall, suggestions? Also besides the two spells I will hopefully have access to a magical library soonish and be able to copy a 3d one, so I would go for Invisibility as the extra one, cos we don’t have á sneaky guy and I like to steal
Shatter is useful even when you have Fireball because it's a lower level spell and you have more 2nd level spell slots than 3rd level spell slots and it's a different damage type that is also very effective at siege damage to doors and walls. Don't discount it, even though it does a lot less damage than Fireball does.
You don't appear to have many concentration buff/debuff spells and those tend to be much more effective than they appear on the surface. Even though the Druid in your group has Entangle and Spike Growth he can only concentrate on one of them at a time. Plus when you cast spells with longer durations you get more than one round of use out of them and at your level your spell slots are limited.
Detect Thoughts and Alter Self are going to be the next selections I make when I play a wizard and make level 4.
Both of these spells are highly underrated in my opinion.
Detect Thoughts can be used even if you can't see the creature, it's one of those spells that when you read it all you can't help but think it has so many uses and therefore is overpowered but it is one of my all time favorites.
Alter Self has 3 different modes within the spell and you can switch between them for the duration, even using the disguise mode you can switch out any disguise for another as many times as you want for the duration.
If you choose any of these I hope you have as much fun as I will.
