I have only recently started using dnd beyond for my current campaign, and I have built up a decent-sized collection of sourcebooks. I was wondering if there would ever be a way to gain a copy of the book on dnd beyond using one of the hardcover books identification numbers. I already have repurchased 3 of my books and was hoping to see if this could be a feature that could be released at some point.
D&D Beyond and Wizards of the Coast are two different companies. None of the revenue from the physical books contributes towards the running or development of D&D Beyond, meaning offering digital books for free if you own the physical ones just isn't possible.
Additional, the identification numbers you mention aren't unique; every book of the same print run will have the same numbers.
Definitely and absolutely not. Slashing the price like that would lead to a drop in quality at the bare minimum, and it might not even be financially viable. While Hasbro as a company is doing fine overall (2020 Q3 SEC Filing), and I would say they managed things pretty well despite COVID, but I would not say they are doing particularly amazing. D&D and Magic are a few of their most significant bright spots under their portfolio of brands, and reducing revenue from those brands would be suicidal and potentially killing D&D and Magic.
Advance Wars was the first videogame series that I really loved, but it has been axed due to a lack of sales. I understand the desire to indulge in hobbies for a low cost or even free, but nickeling and diming writers, developers, musicians, cooks, or any worker from any profession is not an acceptable attitude to have. D&D can already be played completely for free, and there are already plenty of free homebrew out there to supplement the Basic Rules and UA. I do not think it is right to nickel and dime the work that goes into official books.
How would you feel if your boss, client, or customer demand that you do twice the work but are unwilling to double your pay, since they already paid you once and feel entitled that you should work more for the privilege of being paid at all?
I think instead of giving them for free it would be cool if WOTC and DnDB could come to a partnership and maybe put discount codes in the books. 50% off or something
I hope so. But, since WotC dosen't owns this D&DB forum, those who buyed the printed version of the D&D books cannot get FREE ACCESS to the digital version of those books. It's sad, bro. But let's hope some day this dream could come true.

Whilst this would be great, this is very unlikely - see this thread, scroll to the 'Isn’t there a way to simply redeem a code found within the Hardcover Book?' heading.

There was an experiment with this with the release of Mythic Odysseys of Theros. I think game store retailers (or maybe all retailers but I think they were intentionally small scaling the exercise) would give a code to the first 25 or so purchases at their stores. There's been at least four books put out since then and three more in the pipeline and they haven't repeated the experiment.
