So I as a DM create many many many characters. Many for PCs I wish I could play when not DMing, but also many I use as "Leveled NPCs." While I know I can create stat blocks for NPCs with similar abilities to a leveled class, sometimes the easiest and fastest thing to do is create a new character for an NPC centralizing information about them, their abilities, backstory, and appearance.
I have run into an issue over time, that being when I start to hit 40+ characters the sorting options are not enough for digging through my characters for NPCs I made long ago. I have always thought that the My Characters section could greatly benefit folders or some type of purposeful sorting, rather than sorting/searching by name or date created. I think this would help people like me, but also players! With this, they could sort by class, or active characters, groups of similar ideas, or multiple versions of one character in one place!
Overall I think this would be incredibly useful to have as a feature.
I would recommend doing a forum search next time as there are multiple threads for this already.
Anyway, it is something they are looking into but as a low priority.
In meantime you may consider making campaigns that serve as categories/folders. Naming the campaign "Campaign: <title>" or "Folder: <title>" can easily separate and group real campaigns from the ones being used as folders. For the ones you use as folders, just use that campaign's join link yourself to add the characters to it. There is no limit to the number of campaigns you can have or the number of characters that any campaign can have.
Once you've sorted your characters into the folder/campaigns or real campaigns, it is then just a case of getting into the habit of going to "My Campaigns" instead of "My Characters". If you have a lot of folder/campigns and you want to get to a specific one quickly, there's always the trusty Ctrl+F (Find) to take you to it.
