1. How do I friend someone? i have 4 people in my campaign and can't figure out how to friend any of them.
2. also, other then the fact I have players with characters made for the campaign, I have no other indication that I see that there are players and who they are.

There is no friending someone, but if you view their profile you can "follow" them. That will alert you whenever they post.
I am confused by your second question. Are you saying you can't see anybody in your campaign? Or that you can't tell what profiles are associated with certain characters? Within the campaign screen, the boxes show Character Name, then level/class, and then the profile associated with that character.

basically i have more players in campaign then characters. if a player doesn't have a character, I can't see who the player is
You may have given a player a campaign link, but until they put in a character, they aren't in the campaign from the website's point of view.
