Twenty three years ago, you gave us a gift in the form of the OGL 1.0a. That's the problem. You can't honestly expect to ask for it back for something of significantly lesser value.
The creators, the players, the dungeon masters, and the entire community want something of equal or greater value than the 1.0a and SRD 5.1. That means a permanent license that is reliable. People have put their careers on hold for this! Creating quality products takes months, sometimes years. We won't accept anything that can can be changed on a whim and has more loopholes than Toucan Sam can imagine. I'm a janitorial supervisor who works with people with learning disabilities. Even I caught you at things like trying to redefine irrevocable. We're a high IQ community. Reading is what we do. We're not video gamers who blindly click past the Terms of Service.
For each and every line of the SRD and OGL that you take away, we expect you replace it with something of equal or greater play value. Then if you want to release future products under a new license, go ahead. Just don't expect us to give up what you have given us for something of such lesser value!
What might we accept? An unalterable SRD with the same number of creatures, classes, species, sub-classes and spells as we currently have access to. IF you want to reclaim a creature from the current SRD like the Owlbear, give us a Tressym in exchange. Want Magic Missile back? Give us Summon Shadowspawn, instead.
On the VTT front. The main concern you should have is NOT a VTT that is better at D&D than yours. What you need to fear is VTT that is better than yours that DOESN'T offer Dungeons and Dragons compatibility! Think about that.
