Can you please lay out the mobile version better? It should lay out like a page. It is just a single column. Specifically, when using my 12.9" tablet (which I specifically have to read pdf books) it is horribly obnoxious. Should have an option to display in columns just like reading a page from a book.
Relatedly, you should be able to see page numbers and ideally you would have an option just to lay this out like reading the PDF version of the books.
Otherwise, I actually love it! But, please don't treat this like a web page. Just because something is digital doesn't mean that you ignore a couple hundred years of learning how to display text in a book best for reading by human eyes.
Thanks!

Be careful what you Wish for... your DM may just give it to you!
I haven't bought into D&D Beyond yet because I was hoping for, basically, a PDF version of the rule books so that I can magnify them a bit for my terrible eyesight. There are quite a bit of 8.5-9pt fonts in the hardbacks and I'm tired of using a magnifying glass. I know there are a bunch of new D&D players but the early players are aging!
Since I haven't bought any content, testing the mobile app didn't seem useful for me. Since you are obviously familiar with it, maybe you can describe some of it?
Specifically, are the rule books basically PDF copies of the print hardbacks? Or are they more like the web entries in Beyond?
The book content in the app is essentially the same as the "compendium" format on the website - each chapter is there but not laid out as the physical books are. The app functions like a kindle would, single column, and you can change the font size, etc.
In order to see what you'd be getting, you can look at the basic rules for free. Compare the pdf from Wizards to the website compendium, and the download in the app. Hope that helps answer your questions on layout and functionality.
This is actually disappointing. There is a ton of beautiful work done on the layout and design of the physical books that I would prefer to not miss out on. Looks like I'm sticking with a magnifying glass until digital reproductions of the books are available.

Thanks so much for the info.
I can understand the frustration of just wanting straight PDFs of the books and not being able to (legally) obtain them. Unfortunately, I don't see WotC releasing them until after 6E comes. They've been pretty clear that the only digital versions we'll see are via sites like DDB, Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds for the foreseeable future.

I would actually like page # references in general, both on mobile and in the compendium.
