Like smftre512 said, click the "Tools" button, to the right of the title of the thread (next to "Reply" and "Search"). That will let you "subscribe" (if you want to follow a thread you haven't posted to) or "unsubscribe" (stop getting notifications when other people post to thread).
If you are using your phone browser, rotate to Landscape instead of Portrait mode. The "Reply" / "Search" / "Tools" boxes will appear above the thread title.

I just checked my phone browser, and it is still the case that the 3 boxes normally next to the title (Reply, Search, Tools) are absent when the phone is held in portrait orientation.
Odd, but I guess it wasn't enough of a problem to put in the web designer work to make it the same as the landscape orientation.

SO... Unsubscribing from your own thread... one you started, will "close" it? They really should make this more clear. It wouldn't be difficult to just make a selection for people to delete their own thread.

The first post is gone now, but I remember there were two topics that were discussed here.
The first concerned play-by-post. After the DM was done assembling a group of players, the request was to change the thread tag from "recruiting" to "closed". The thread itself was still active, only the tag was changed.
The other had to do with not wanting to get notifications about new postings to a thread, and how to stop them. That was the reason for the "unsubscribe". So "unsubscribe" does not "close" a thread.
And IMO it shouldn't be easy for someone to delete a thread. (It is easy to delete your own posts.) I've seen threads on other forums with long discussions, with a lot of useful comments and information presented. Allowing the original poster to wipe out all that info isn't fair to the other people who contributed to the thread.

I believe a user has to reach out to a mod to have a thread truly deleted. Not sure though. I do agree that a OP to a thread shouldn't have the blanket ability to delete a thread, since substantive discussion may have taken place regardless of the OP's intent of the thread. It's sort of like the "publish" button in homebrew. If you start a thread, it's not actually "your thread" it's the forum's. I do think OP's should have an easy path to locking a thread in those asked and answered scenarios where despite the ask and answering the thread has turned into a conflict zone; but most threads are less narrow in origin.

If it's a LFG/LFP post, you can edit the tag to set it to closed.
If there's a problem with a thread, you can always ask a moderator to lock it.
