Given the general move to 2024 content and the nuisance involved with some of the references, such as the wrong Grappling rules being listed on sheets, is there any possibility that those of us who purchased 2014 content can be given pdfs of the product we paid for? I'd like to see and use what I purchased. I'd happily accept pdfs with a watermark of my username if piracy is a concern.
The digital book (compendium) is unchanged. A PDF is not necessary. You can view the book with or without a character sheet. You can download a copy to a device using the D&D Beyond app for offline reading if desired.
The tool itself is being updated to the 2024 ruleset which is the new standard. This is not the same thing as the book - which you retain access to and lists the original rules as detailed in the physical book.

Have I missed an announcement that they are no longer supporting the whole of 5th Edition? As far as I'm aware, and according to their messaging, both rulesets are still valid.
The fact that bits of 2014 are (still!) missing from the sheet is down to them not putting in enough Dev time to fix the site properly.
(I know they originally wanted to toss 2014, but they wisely reconsidered when the user base found out)
Here are the unchanged rules for Grappling in 2014.
Yes, and they should be available on the character sheet.
There was a bad decision made by someone who may or may not be with WOTC any more, when they said "Just upgrade everything to 2024". They have been progressively working that backwards to separate the two again, like adding the 2014 and Core toggles, and most recently the 2014 Expanded Rules toggle and the Hit Dice recovery option. They definitely need to fix some of the wording on the character sheet, and I'm sure they know that.
But when you bought the 2014 PHB, it wasn't a guarantee of being able to use the Character Sheet Tool. It was access to the book, with the bonus of being able to access all of those things from the Character Sheet Builder. Access to the Character Sheet Builder is free and their choice to change it is not limited by anyone's previous purchases.
You still have 100% access to the book you paid for, without any sort of changes.

Let's not go through this again. The character sheet functionality is an integral part of the digital content you purchase, and is advertised as such on the marketplace, under "DnDBeyond Unlocks". Under the old "a la carte" system it was even more explicit, as you could purchase the unlocks separately from the compendium content. The old books are even still being sold, marketed as compatible with 2024.
The only place I see this idea that the character builder is some sort of freebie is from people trying to defend DDB's neglect of it.
