The idea to sell class packs as a compromise between a la carte purchasing and buying full books was a good one. I'm wondering if we can see that extended to subclasses as well, especially as 5.5 grows with new books and because of the limitations of a la carte pruchases that WOTC has mentioned before.
One thing that concerns me is how Universes Beyond is going to affect content going forward. This is a bit of personal grievance, but it feels kind of bad to have to buy Universes Beyond books to get what have traditionally been regular D&D subclasses. I don't care about World of Warcraft at all, but now if I want to play a Swashbuckler Rogue I'll have to pay $40 for it just to have it on D&D Beyond. This was a Xanathar's subclass but now it's being relagated to a non-D&D book. Not sure what Star Wars will have in store for us next year, but it would similary suck to have to buy a $40 Star Wars supplement to get what was put in Tasha's or Xanathar's in the past. At least with regular, core, D&D books I can pull other useful content from the book to add to my game, but with Universes Beyond everything is tailored to a series I don't care about.
If there were a way to buy subclass packs at some point, or some form of subclass a la carte, it would also help the issue of having to any setting book just for one or two subclasses when the rest of the content doesn't really interest or apply to you.
I also want to make it clear that I actually like the idea of Universes Beyond. It seems cool for D&D. I just don't care for having updated 5e content locked away behind random IPs instead of, you know, D&D.

I'd imagine that class packs for the added features is intended, but they want to build up enough to justify a certain cost before they do it. Not just subclasses, but associated spells and any relevant feats etc.
Totally agree with Italiosaurus. The swashbuckler is versatile enough to not be necessarily bound to a specific setting - especially not to a non-D&D setting (that I am not interested in at all).

+1 to this. I wasn't aware that Swashbuckler was going to be chained to WoW but, even if this wasn't the case, I'd still give a +1 to this suggestion.
