My character here has a movement speed of 30ft. But she also has boots of speed she's attuned to, but under bonus actions, there's nothing there to activate the boots, and in the item description there's nothing to turn them on and see the results.
Also, when suffering from exhaustion level 2, speed should be halved, but I don't see this effect taking place.
Am I doing something wrong? My party got me the legendary collection as a gift and I signed up for a year subscription, but I'm very new to everything here. Thank you in advanced.

the magic item Boots of Speed doesn't change the walking speed on your character sheet because it's no an "always on" buff.
While you wear these boots, you can use a bonus action and click the boots' heels together. If you do, the boots double your walking speed, and any creature that makes an opportunity attack against you has disadvantage on the attack roll. If you click your heels together again, you end the effect.
When the boots' property has been used for a total of 10 minutes, the magic ceases to function until you finish a long rest.
Sadly, there isn't really a mechanism for tracking time used - I'll talk to staff to see if there's a sensible way of tracking this, maybe 10 dots that can be crossed off to represent minutes of use.
