im curious to know what others think about the current Compendium layout in comparison to the older layout.
What I mean by "old layout" is the version that initially showed up, with a white background and a single column of links to scroll through. The current layout has a sort of dual column layout and yellow art background that seems to pop a little too much (imo).
Personally I like the older layout. What do you think?
Personally i think the current layout is too busy and only likely to get busier as more information is added.
Part of the issue is the background and the other part of the issue is the need to display all the subcategories.
You could go a long way towards making this easier to read by implementing a search function. After that is done you could go single column with expandable sections.
Honestly I like the new layout better. Less scrolling through a giant block of text. And an omni search will be implemented, but it'll be one of the last things done due to the nature of the search function. You can also resize your browser and it'll all be one long column without the graphics. As seen on the attachment below:

Yeah, I think collapsible category lists would be a good option. Like the forums. "Busy" is a good word for it.

I primarily use a tablet (laptop is out of action for now), so can't resize windows like a desktop. Thanks for the link
Yeah, I like the new better for my desktop and laptop due to the wider screen setup so I actually have three columns, but then on the desktop TOO much white on either side which is rather blinding is now color instead. I do like that if I put it to half the width of my screen it goes to two columns and the graphic is sort of there, but hidden enough it isn't really noticed, but everything is easy to find still.
The thing I find annoying is if I put the browser at half the screen width so it is beside another program I want to be using at the same time I'm researching is that depending on where the tooltip is anchored it doesn't always pop up right. I think they are working on this, but right now tooltips appear forced to a certain width and anchoring no matter what size I decide I want my browser at for use.
