I noticed that a lot of the features on D&D Beyond are geared towards players (and work great, the character builder especially), but for me I would love to see some DM focused tools to make buying the electronic copies of the books/having a subscription really worth it.
Having a private DM section beyond just notes that includes:
Saved Monsters, either from homebrew or from searching the connected books
Saved character sheets for enemies/NPCs
Saved magic items, either from homebrew or from searching the connecting books
Hidden homebrew with the option to share later
Ability to change monster stats based on challenge rating, especially if you could have a general estimation based on the character sheets already in your party
Or a monster based character sheet, similar to the player sheets
Random encounter/item generator, maybe based on the roll tables in the books
Map-building feature, or an import feature of the maps that are in the books
I'm sure there are a lot of others, but it would be really nice to see some DM-focused upgrades, because it's a hard job and having an electronic resource to organize everything would make it a lot easier to run games.
You can already approximate most of the points in your "private DM section" by creating a campaign and using tool tips (like orc) for official monsters, magic items, etc, and URL links for homebrew items.
For homebrew you have created, you can remove it from your collection and players won't be able to see it. (It will stay in the 'my creations' section)
I think the "monster creator" that is on the roadmap will do much of what you want for changing monsters. It's not on the "near term" roadmap, I don't think, so it will be a while.
If you use a laptop (or desktop) and Chrome, you can use the DnD toolbox extension, which makes it possible to roll on tables. (I think I've got the right extension for that). Not quite what you asked, but perhaps a stopgap. I, too, hope they eventually integrate a full service dice roller that could to this among other things.
How do you do that hotlink/tooltip thing with the orc? That could come in handy at least for some notes/making my own random encounter section. (Right now I've been mostly just pasting stuff into Scrinver)
Any Word from the Devs on these types of tools on the road map? I'm almost exclusively a DM and would love to be able to keep track of monster stats and create maps right from DNDB.
I believe it would be handy for there to be checklists of things that are allowed and banned. For example the Firbolg does not exist in my campaign. It would be great if, as the DM, you could remove them from the players options. Same with spells.
Good ideas! I would love to have a more complex DM screen in Beyond, like a overview of the player character's stats. Some sort of "quick view" of characters, all in one list and then I can maybe dropdown certain things like spells if I need more infos.
There are already free map/city building tools you will love! Zoom in far enough, click the city and click the "see the burg representation" button to view a full render of the town. Love, your fellow DM! I wouldn't mind DNDBeyond hire these people to make tools for them however, i would hate for that to damage the open souce elements.

That would be great, I've been mostly clicking in and out of their individual character profiles, but a summary would be excellent (I've got six players, it's a lot of clicking in and out).

Do, or do not, There is no try

Would love these features, specifically the Monster Builder (similar to the character builder)
