I'm playing in a campaign as an artificer who has a 10 in strength. As an artificer strength isn't important so I never focused on it.
In one session I found a belt of hill giant strength, shooting up that 10 to a 21, essentially going from a 0 to a +5 to strength.
What I was wondering if during my next level up I could then multiclass as a barbarian? (strength requirement is 13 to multiclass).
As the strength is magical in nature, would this be allowed? Of course if I ever lost the belt I'd go back down to 10, and no longer meet the requirements, which means I would essentially have lost that level forever.
I do believe that you have to actually have a strength 13 that natural not magical. This I believe is also true of Intelligence for multiclassing with Wizard or Dex for rogue
