Zianelle, my Tiefling Rogue! Currently running with her in a campaign and it is going very well. Inquisitive has me on the fence for detective or bounty hunter, maybe both!
Since I am poor at drawing, the idea I thought of was virtually painting virtual miniatures. I haven't seen them before but I guess it is likely someone else thought of it first.
Heroforge allows you to download a screenshot, which I open in GIMP, and use the colorize tool. It takes careful selection, and I have not perfected the technique by a long shot, but it is good enough for a small icon. Using colorize preserves the shadows, and it feels a lot like the level of detail I could get when I was a kid painting lead minis.
Anyone have tips for this or a similar technique?
Edit: I missed it, Gilli posted a similar thing with heroforge and photoshop a couple pages back, only better.
This is Merewalh Galawain II (named after his creator), a Warforged Cleric. I took a lot of creative liberties and commissioned art of him because I wanted to take the Warforged into a different direction than what Eberron does. Made by the wonderful Steven Bellshaw

Half-Pint the Quaker Parrot Kenku wizard :)
Her name is short for Half-Pint of Ale and a Couple of Breadsticks Please :)
I love the character name!
My character Mildred again, this time closer to her age in the campaign she's in:
