Bug - Can't pick certain spells from feat: Magic Initiate (wizard).

Hello.

I am looking to pick up the feat Magic Initiate (wizard) for certain spells from the wizards spellist. I can not pick Shield or Find Familiar, which I thought both was a 1st level spell that was on the wizard spell list. Searching through this forum several people have talked about those spells as good picks for this feat. Is this a bug, or something I have misunderstood about the feat?

Remember that Magic Initiate gives you two Cantrips and 1 1st level spell. Are you sure you're not looking in the cantrip list?
