I'm running a campaign with a Tortle Monk and have noticed some issues his AC as calculated by DnD Beyond.
It won't switch to the Monk AC Calculation if his Wisdom and Dexterity bonuses combined are +8 or higher. (In that event his AC should be a 18, but it stays on the base 17 for his AC. There also isn't an option to switch the active AC Calculation (which would be useful with Wizards who have cast Mage Armor).
Again, I'm aware that only one Calculation can be used at a time, but it would be helpful if we could choose which Calculation was in use (for Wizards casting Mage Armor or high Wisdom/Dex Tortle monks that are restrained) AND if DnD Beyond had the option to default to the AC Calculation with the best result (for the Calculations that are racial- or class-based).
I can continue bypassing it with overrides, but I think this type of option would streamline a lot of AC questions and also allow for less immersion breaking.
Normally the AC will default to the highest applicable AC. It appears that there is a bug with tortles specifically, likely because they aren't allowed to use the alternate calculation that would be provided by armor.
