as the title says... i created a copy of one of my monster, for i didn't want it to replace the older version. i want both at the same time... so i clicked create at the top, chose the monster i had done. it create a copy of it. i edit the copy to make it into a lesser version of the original. now i was ready to share it publicly... so i clicked the button and the original just vanished ! i now had the lesser one, but not the original. so i clicked to check previous version of the original. and it was there ! i never clicked the button for new version. i literally created a copy. it shouldn't be making a new version of it. thats clearly not what i want.
so my question is... why is a copy of a monster considered a new version of the original monster ? i've done this numerous times and it always worked... but now, it doesn't anymore. i dont get it !

Don't know what to tell you. I couldn't get this to replicate.
Steps taken (purposes below): -Made a homebrew monster with Aboleth as a base, named Test, in 2024 Style --New monster to test with -Made a homebrew monster with Test as a base, named Test 2, in 2024 Style --Testing copying a monster without changing anything but the name -Made a homebrew monster with Test as a base, named Test 3, in 2014 Style --Testing copying a monster and changing the style (name only changed to differentiate in the creations menu) -Made a homebrew monster with Test 3 as a base, named Test 4, in 2014 Style --Testing copying a monster with 2014 Style without changing anything but the name -Made a homebrew monster using Test as a base, named Test, in 2024 style and changed the size --Testing making a change to the block but using the same name in 2024 Style -Made a homebrew monster using Test 3 as a base, named Test 3, in 2014 style and changed the size --Testing making a change to the block but using the same name in 2014 Style
I ended up with 6 unique monsters, 2 pairs of which had the same name. Make sure you're always using the Create Homebrew Monster feature, I guess, never use Edit to try to make a new one unless you intend to simply edit.
I do know it didn't always do it for me. If you look up the homebrew monster "greater dewcoil wurm," that's the main one I was having trouble with, and I just kinda gave up and decided to just use the different versions. The same happened with "greater willowglide terrapin," but not with my several variations of "bristlepack sentry," "Cactarantula," "Herd of Tumblewaggs," and "Nightshade Vulture." I know I didn't do anything (to my knowledge) differently when creating these, all I know is that every time I used the Create Homebrew Monster feature, and in two particular cases even though I selected "create with another monster as a template," it instead created that creature as a new version of the same creature, and would continue to do so every time for that particular creature. Beyond that, I didn't notice any linking features, but maybe that can help.

I have no idea why it's doing this, but I'm just now having the same issue.

Hm. If you're doing this with creatures you've released to public homebrew, that could be causing it to act differently I suppose.
