I can't seem to create my own home-brew ammunition. Even when I use the arrows +1 template, the ammunition weapon type still doesn't show up, therefore not letting me create it at all. I tried to create it as a wondrous item, but then it doesn't stack up like ammunition do. So when I give my player 20 magic arrows, it literally shows up 20 different times in the inventory tab. I am not sure if this is a bug or a feature that isn't implemented yet or I am just unaware the proper method of creating custom arrows.
You can go to manage equipment - custom item - +add custom item. To make a stackable, non-magic item with custom name, weight, value, and description. Any function the items have need to be done manually though.
Bumping this topic, because I am trying to make things like Tanglefoot Arrows, seen in previous iterations of D&D, for my party to use in our campaigns.
Long and short, there were a lot of very useful ammunition types in previous iterations of D&D, not just +1/+2/Slaying, and bringing them back would be of the utmost use to my party member running a Ranger (non beastmaster!). I, and by the looks of it several others, would appreciate the ability to add things like flaming arrows, tanglefoot arrows, arrows of biting, and so forth that we have known from years of playing and can't seem to access without a lot of niddly-piddly micro-management of custom items.
I forgot I even made this post five years ago lmao. Five years later.... it looks like nothing has changed yet, haha. In case anyone is wondering, we are still tracking special ammunition manually!

D&D Beyond needs to step up their game and correct issues like this one and the many other features that users have been asking for for years if they want to regain all the subscribers who just left over the OGL debacle. Cummon, DnDB! Step it up!

Any help is appreciated
Likewise I'm having the same issue, although all I was trying to do was owlbear feathered arrows :'D
Any assistance with this would be great!

This is still an issue. Ammunition is not listed under subtypes of weapons, so it is impossible to code homebrews in as you would other weapons.
