RELEASE NOTES
Uncover a new threat to Phandalin in this timeless dungeoneering adventure for the world’s greatest roleplaying game.Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk is a high-fantasy adventure that begins in the beloved town of Phandalin as it faces unimaginable danger. Whether the heroes are newcomers to Phandalin or are returning after the acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons adventure Lost Mine of Phandelver, they discover hints of a threat lurking below the town. The heroes soon learn that the cult of a malevolent entity has set its sights on transforming Phandalin into the capital of its evil empire.
Syncing Entitlements
If you don’t see any of the content from the book (preorder bonuses or otherwise), please be sure to resync your entitlements. You can do so by following these steps:
I am reading the dndbeyond version, and I noticed that the "Player map version"/"Unlabeled version" still has all locations marked with an "X", just doesn't have the text.
Is this intentional or a bug? I am wondering as original LMoP had the markings removed as well.
Some of the content doesn't seem to be working, I have early access and clinking on some of the links say's I need to purchase the content to unlock and then just says Page Not Found, I checked the entitlements and it says I'm synced but still the content isn't fully working.
Yes- you are correct. I learned the hard way with the Glory of the Giants preorder. You are REQUIRED to purchase the physical + digital bundle to get early access to the digital version. The admin states this in the beginning of this thread:
Please note that this thread is for the Early Access digital release of Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk — which you can attain by preordering the Digital + Physical bundle via the D&D Official Store.
The problem is it doesn't specifically state you MUST buy the bundle. Many many people get confused by that (again- I'm one of them). It also doesn't help that there is a banner on the marketplace preorder that has a literal countdown to the release of the physical book ....but it's worded in a way that would lead anyone to believe they can purchase it now and get early access to the digital version. That is NOT the case. For Bigby, for this, and any release going forward we can assume this : you MUST buy the bundle to get early access.
I love this game, and I support WotC whenever they get a bad rap. That said ... DNDB AND WOTC - YOU HAVE TO BE EXPLICIT IN CLARIFYING THIS AND GET RID OF THE COUNTDOWN BANNER. NO ONE CAN PREORDER IT AS OF TODAY - IT IS TOO MISLEADING AND ESSENTIALLY WRONG. Thank you
I have the early access from pre-purchase active and can go through the entire contents, but it seems all the magic items are still locked, I can see the listing in the source book itself, but when I hover over the link it says the content is only available with purchase of the book, which I have already and when I click on the link to the item it goes to a page not found error.
I've already found two issues with characters in the story.
Grista/Greska. In chapter 2, the owner of the Sleeping Giant is listed as a surly female orc named Greska. However in Chapter 5 in the section investigating the incident at the Sleeping Giant, the owner is always referred to as Grista, the female dwarf in the legacy version of the story.
Trilena Stonehill. She goes completely unmentioned by name in Chapter 2 other than saying Toblen has a wife, and her legacy rumor text is re-assigned to him. However in Chapter 6, she's mentioned several times in relation to the incident with Pip, but not as a new character introduction. This was probably an oversight.
To dndbeyond team, the following looks to be a typo:
REFRACTION OF ILVAASH Incorporeal Movement. The refraction can move through other creatures and objects as if they were [Tooltip Not Found][/rule]. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.
While the book is accessible from the Source > View All page, I can't access to it using only the menu Source > Adventures. I'd expect official adventures to be readily available from the menu directly, on the same level as Curse of Strahd, for instance
It looks like Trilena is introduced in the second paragraph of chapter 5. But this speaks to a problem with all D&D books: they introduce a character in passing in one chapter, then mention them again a a chapter later as if you're supposed to remember who they are. How about a "cast list" appendix page for every single NPC? This would be so very useful.
EDIT: Not the second paragraph, my bad. It's in the Shrine of Luck section of the Investigations. Switching back and forth on my phone, sorry.
Please keep in mind that this thread is for issues relating to the implementation of Phandelver and Below: the Shattered Obelisk on D&D Beyond, and not for issues, queries, or questions pertaining to the adventure itself, including but not limited to layout, character changes, or plot adjustments. Thank you

So this ebook, a non-physical ebook was not released for weeks unless you preordered the bundle. Then on the 19th in the actual release, it is still not available.
Are you holding the ebook back until midday, like some video game that needs to be patched?
It seems like a really silly non-profitable decision tbh. What's the point of preordering?
Anyways I am reporting here as it may be a bug that I can not access the PDF and it's been the 19th for a number of hours now. Thanks 👍
Also having issues with not being able to access this book. For the last few releases the digital copy unlocked around 6 am for my local time, but it's almost 11 and I still don't have access.

Since at least April of last year, new book releases have targeted* 7am PT / 9am CT / 10am ET / 3pm BST (UK) for release, which as of posting this message is 5ish hours from now. This is not a new thing, nor is it a bug.
*Please note that this is a targeted release time, as unforeseen events can occur such as AWS nodes failing to clear the cache properly preventing the entitlements server from refreshing or from new content being pushed into the production environment. Basically stuff can go wrong that is outside of the control of D&D Beyond.
Don't expect the book to be available before 16:00 UTC.
The books use to be avaliable ad 04:00 UTC yet they change it to 16:00 UTC for some weird reason.
The "weird reason" is that doing a release when no one was in the office to oversee that things were going smoothly proved to be not the best approach. And expecting people to be in the office at midnight was unreasonable.

Wait, is the early access only available if you bought the digital + book bundle? Is early access not available for digital only preorders?
I've been wondering the same thing. Wish this was made more clear.

Still, the Grista/Greska one is a good catch.
The ring of protection displayed in the Treasure text of Old Owl Well isn't displaying the ring stats when you hover over it and it 404s when you click on it. The ring is in this section: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/pbtso/the-spiders-web#Treasure

This should now be fixed. Please reply back here if the issue is still occurring.
Thanks!
