Ironfang in my character sheet shows it has 4 charges (in description it has 3). It also dispalys Dominate Monster feature as using charges, which is incorrect - this feature is only usable once per dawn.
It is indeed a flaw. The item creation system does not allow (for now) the application of the charges for single spells. So, basically, you just need to remember that you have 3 charges for Shatter and 1 for Dominate Monster (hence 4).
