Anyone else using the new combat inivitiative order in Maps and finding that, when party members roll for initiative, the wrong calculations are placed into the initiative?
Checking the order in the Encounter shows the correct initiative order, but the feature on the Maps has been incorrect.
It's a great addition to the Maps feature, but its gotta work!
I'm going to guess you think the Encounter tool is connected to Maps - as in you go into the Encounter tool, make an Encounter and expect this Encounter to also run in the Maps tool and update?
They are separate tools. If you want to run initiative through Maps it must be done wholly through maps - and can only track initiative and player HP, nothing else, yet. It will be updated in future but until then you are better off ignoring in-map initiative and instead run the encounter in the encounter tool through a different browser tab.

Nope, not in my case. I was already aware the two tools are not connected (as much as I wish that were not the case).
My issue, when testing it with a friend—using only Maps—was that when they rolled Initiative using their character sheet, the Initiative shown in the Maps combat tracker displayed the wrong number and put them in the wrong spot in the turn order. (They rolled a 21 total using their character sheet, it displayed 12.) Maybe we're just doing something wrong. 🤷♂️ Or does Maps just do automated Initiative and ignore the player's roll?
Appreciate the feedback, though. Going to just stick with AboveVTT for now until they also enable rolling attacks, damage, etc. directly from the monster stat blocks directly within Maps. That said, I do love what they are doing with Maps and hope they do get it there!!
Yes, I understand that the Encounter Builder and the Maps are separate tools and not connected (though why that's so is a mystery).
From what I've been able to determine, the maps encounter feature does not recognize players' rolls. It can either randomly generate initiative on its own OR as a DM you can enter the initiative roll provided by your players.
Agreed that what is happening with maps is really great - there's lots to love there. But it's not quite there yet.

Yes, having the same issue.

I'm in agreement with you there.
