Ok so I'm already frustrated trying to navigate building a 2014 character on DnD beyond. (I don't have access to all of the 2014 rules that have been purchased by me or shared with me while building characters).
Now - I built a character and am trying to save it and it's saying "unavailable - character incomplete". I have fully built the character and there is nothing missing in this build. Why am I unable to save!?

Are you doing this on the website or through the mobile app? Either way there should not be a need to manually "save" anything, but it will say that characters are "incomplete" if they're missing a class, background, species, or ability scores.
If you're not seeing character options from older content you've purchased, make sure that "2014 Rules" and "Expanded Rules" are turned on in the Home tab of the character builder, and make sure you've selected the 2014 version of your class on the Class tab, not the 2024 version.
Through the website. The entire character was built out, including Bonds, and it was still registering as "incomplete" and I can not export the character to PDF.
You technically don't need a background (just class, species, and ability scores).
To use any shared character options, make sure your character is also assigned to the campaign that's sharing them.
Everything was built out including background. Content sharing was also turned on. We ended up just building the characters on my partner's account (the DM for the campaign) and were able to use most of his content, however some 2014 purchased content was still missing.
