So my character is level 4, homebrew is toggled on, literally every other type of homebrew i've been able to seamlessly include on the character sheet, but when i go to try and select an (unfinished) subclass i made, it doesn't show up on the menu. It lists expanded rules, core rules, but not my homebrew class at the bottom. Help?

This may be because your subclass was created for the wrong version of the class. The 2014 and 2024 versions of each class are implemented on D&D Beyond as two separate classes, and a homebrew subclass can only be linked to one or the other, not both. Check to make sure you're using the same version of the class that the homebrew subclass is linked to.
if I click the "make a copy" of the character, does it automatically update it?
No, copying a character doesn't change anything about the character.
As I said, if your homebrew subclass was created for the other version of the class, you need to either remake it for the version of the class you're using, or change your character's class to the version the homebrew subclass is linked to.

My character is the old thing, not the subclass
Are you saying your character is using the 2014 class and the homebrew subclass was made for the 2024 class?
If that's the case, then you need to go to the Class tab of the character builder, remove the class that's there, and change it to the 2024 version of that class instead.
Having the same issue. No matter what version of character I use (2024 or 2014) Homebrew sub-classes don't show up under any classes they were built for. It's a bug that needs fixing I assume?

Do you have the "Homebrew" box checked under "Sources" on the Home tab of the character builder?

Also, are you trying to change the class by scrolling down on the class selection page until you find the legacy classes? Some people mistakenly try to do it by turning the "2014 core" toggle on and off, but that only controls whether the legacy classes are available, and doesn't change which one you're using.
