Is there any way to leave a campaign while leaving the character you were using behind?
Long story short, one of the campaigns I'm in had all players using characters the DM made. Because we haven't had a session in over a year and I want to clean out my character list, I wish to leave the campaign, but I don't want to take the character with me since it was originally the DM's. Ideally, I'd like to do this without having to get the DM's help, as I don't want to have to have the "but we may have another session someday" discussion.
I already clicked the "unassign" button, but it still shows the character in my list. Can I safely hit the "leave campaign" button, or will that take the character with me?
Someone else will need to claim the unassigned character first, by using the campaign invite link. That will transfer it to their account instead (where they can again unassign it if they wish).
