According to the Player’s Handbook (2024), a Wizard Illusionist at Level 3 gains Illusion Savant, which states “Choose two Wizard spells from the Illusion school, each of which must be no higher than level 2, and add them to your spellbook for free.”
In the Character Builder, when you choose Wizard -> Illusionist and receive Illusion Savant at Level 3, the two spells that you select from the dropdown are added to your Character in the app under the Spells tab as if they are Prepared. They are not added to your Spellbook. This seems to contradict the rules, which imply that those two spells are only added to your Spellbook, but do not change the total number of spells you are able to Prepare at Level 3 (6). Since the Builder doesn’t add them to your Spellbook, they cannot be un-prepared.
It's worth pointing out that since the character builder allows Wizards to add any arbitrary spells to their spellbook at any time, you can work around this issue by ignoring the drop-downs for selecting spells under Illusion Savant, and just manually adding the spells you want via the normal spell management screen.
That's a good point. I do run into a similar problem with the Magic Initiate Feat. You're supposed to be able to use the Level 1 spell 1/LR, but also cast it with a normal spell slot. However, the spell only appears in your list as Use and not a second time as Cast. That's one I can't seem to get around because of the limit on prepared spells.

Yeah, this is a long-standing issue that's been reported a number of times, but no one has done anything about it yet. However, it should be noted that all the "Cast" button does is check off the spell slot checkbox, which you can just do yourself.

That's a known issue.

Sorry for reporting something that I’m clearly not the first to notice. This is what happens when the forever DM finally gets to build a character.
The Cast thing just helps me remember that it’s an option unlike a magic item that lets you cast something once per day/LR/SR.
I really appreciate you guys taking the time to chime in.
They don’t currently have a way to add that when the spell is chosen by the player. It’s only possible when a specific spell is given.
