Class feature isn't showing available spell options for spell slots I have available.
I have a 5th level paladin, multiclassing into 6 levels of lore bard (equivalent to a 9th level full caster with 5th level spell slots). At level 6 the Lore Bard feature Magical Discoveries gives early access to magical secrets, for cleric, druid, and wizard spell lists upto any spell I have slots for.
The problem is I'm not seeing any spells above level 3.
Am I misinterpreting the rule? Does anyone have suggestions of workarounds?
Per the multiclassing rules, you’d calculate that requirement as if you were a single-classed level 6 bard, which would have a max 3rd-level spell slot.
Thanks for your reply. It seemed like the wording of Magical Discoveries gave a specific rule that was an exception to the general.
"You learn two spells of your choice. These spells can come from the Cleric, Druid, or Wizard spell list or any combination thereof (see a class’s section for its spell list). A spell you choose must be a cantrip or a spell for which you have spell slots, as shown in the Bard Features table." (added bold for emphasis)
Is the part 'as shown in the Bard Features Table' - their way of saying 'Only spells of a level you have access to as a bard'? I'm open to being wrong, but it seems to be more like "Pick 2 spells from cleric, druid, or wizard, A spell you choose must be a cantrip or spell for which you have spell slots (not sure what spell slots you have? look at the spell slot table here)"
I'm familiar with multiclassing limits like: bard 3/Wizard 2 - and neither has access to level 3 spells.
