Not a dnd veteran at all and my DM is a first timer DM, and we just cant figure out what is wrong. Just leveled up to lvl 5 and gained access to 3rd level spells. However, i can only learn one even though lvl 5 clerics are supposed to be able to prepare two? Right? Like i said im no veteran at the game but all the places we are reading are saying i should be able to prepare four lvl 1 spells, three lvl 2 and two lvl 3 (plus the four known cantrips). Where we think there might be an issue is my spells i gain for my domain? But according to what ive read those are always prepared and do not add up to the total spells prepared. I also think it might be because the item i gained last session, a pair of phase spider boots that grant me misty step. For some reason that got added into my 2nd level spell list, but it doesnt show in my known spells. So here is hoping someone might give me a clear answer what is wrong... is it the nature spells? or the magic item? or just a bug?
You’ll need to change your Character Privacy settings to “Public” before anyone else can view your character.
Is this a 2014 or 2024 character, though? The number of prepared spells differs between them. In either case, though, the number applies to your total number of spells; it’s not broken up by spell level. If you’ve prepared more 1st- and 2nd-level spells, you’ll be able to prepare fewer 3rd-level spells.
