I recently purchased the digital versions of the payer's handbook (2024) and tasha's cauldron. I am DM for a custom campaign and we recenty started using DnDBeyond to keep track of everything. We started of with free characters and no subscriptions, but quickly found we wanted additional options, so we bought the books i mentioned.
When I shared the content with my players they could add optional features to their characters, such as "Favored Foe" for a ranger. The player decided he wanted to use that, but later on discovered that the subclass he wanted to use (Gloom Stalker) wasn't showing up in the character builder. I believe this happened because the character was made on his account, outside of the campaign, so the content was NOT shared with that character, but on the other hand "Favored Foe" did show up in the optional features which I believe is from Tasha's, so I guess it did get shared? To make it so he could play his preferred subclass I wanted to make him a character within he DNDBeyond campaign so all the content would be shared. When I did this, the "Gloom Stalker" subclass does show up, but all of the optional features are gone. None of them are showing up. Has it got something to do with the 2024 edition versus the *free* characters that were made with the free 2014 edition? I'm not sure but I find it all very complicated and kind of annoying.....
The optional class features from TCOE aren't available on the 2024 Ranger class (because those options are largely now just part of the class itself). They can still be used on the 2014 Ranger.
To use Gloom Stalker on the 2024 Ranger, your player needs access to the 2024 PHB and its version of the subclass. To use the TCOE version of Gloom Stalker, your player needs to use the 2014 Ranger class.
Rather than rebuilding the character, sending them your campaign invite link would allow them to add their existing character, and which point they can then use any shared character options for that character.

I have most of the source books and all the 2024 core books, and I don't get any optional features. Not sure what's up.
