My brother and I loved DnD and played in campaigns together. We also shared a DnDBeyond account for years and stored all our characters on there. He passed away recently, and it’s been a horrible loss.
I want to restart some of the campaigns we played together, but I realize now that the account is linked to his email, which I have no way to access. When I try to login to the account it sends a verification email to that inaccessible address — I’m completely locked out. All our characters, everything we made together, is stuck behind a wall.
Right now, I still have access on my phone, since I haven’t been logged out of DnDBeyond on that device yet. But if I get naturally logged out for any reason, I’ll never be able to get back in. So I need to find a way to switch the email to mine instead.
I reached out to Beyond’s Support, and finally got a response saying that they needed “Next of Kin documentation” to have the account transferred to me. I was confused as to what this meant — a death certificate? A will? I asked Support to clarify and got no response. I’ve been asking over and over for weeks now, with no answer. I tried making new tickets, but each time Support just merges it into my old ticket and then doesn’t respond further.
This situation is already horrible enough as it is. All I want is to not lose something my brother and I shared and the memories we made. Can someone please tell me what I need to do? Or give me a way to get Support to respond?
If you’re still signed in on your phone, though, try going to this page, where you should be able to change your sign-in method. https://www.dndbeyond.com/account

Sorry to hear about your brother. 😔

You can get to it in the app, if needed. It’s just a little more cumbersome.
