There isn't an option to customize the ranger companion in the dndbeyond character sheet to increase the armor class, or the max HP value, or to track temporary hit points.
I can modify the to hit bonus or the damage bonus. There is no option to adjust these other attributes.
The rules on barding from page 229 of the 2024 player's handbook state that any armor can be purchased for a mount. The ranger companion should be able to wear this armor and as a medium creature the beast of the land option should be functional as a mount for any race that can be small (aasimar, gnome, halfling, human, tiefling). I think (medium) dogs have been mount options for the small races since first edition.
Spells like shield of faith can target any creature, and it should be possible to track these changes in the companion's character sheet details.
Feels like this should also include things like additional hit points from sources like aid, and also temporary hit points.
