So my wife is trying to play a subclass from the homebrew section. When she is in her character creator, she goes to the level 3 and goes to select the paladin subclass in this case. It doesn't appear at all. We have tried to enable content sharing in the campaign and have both of us add the subclass to our collection. Any help would be appreciated.
I figured it out. The 2024 class won't let you use 2014 content if you didn't buy the 2024 handbook. You have to use the older version to enable homebrews.

ModeratorHomebrew subclasses for a 2014 class won’t work on the 2024 class and vice versa. They’re functionally separate classes.
Buying the 2024 PHB won’t change that. Content Sharing also isn’t needed in order to use or share homebrew in a campaign.
