I own a lot of content on DnDBeyond including 2014 PHB, 2024 PHB, and Explorer's Guide to WIldemount. I'm also a Master Tier subscriber. I'm running a Dungeon of the Mad Mage campaign and as the players switched between dungeon levels, I asked them to rebuild their characters under the 2024 rules so we could try them out. One player was playing an Echo Knight Fighter and although he had been able to pick Echo Knight back when he first built the character several years ago, he couldn't select it now when building a 2024 character.
I've since tried it myself and I seem to be having the same issue. I've ensured that All partnered content is enabled on the Home tab. The only way I've been able to make it show up as an option on the subclass list is by choosing the 2014 version of the Fighter. As I understood it, the rules allow for old subclasses to be selected with the new classes and features come online whenever the new class gets subclass features.
I looked around for anyone else encountering this problem, but I haven't seen it noted anywhere. I haven't done an exhaustive check, but I've only seen it happen for Critical Role content. I get other subclass options from Xanathar's, Tasha's, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, and Fizban's as well as third party content from Mage Hand Press (Valda's Spire of Secrets). I checked Wizard and couldn't see the Chronurgy Wizard or Graviturgy Wizard either.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? I'd love to know if I'm doing something wrong here.
There have been a lot of people asking why some partnered content on DDB (e.g. Obojima subclasses, Critical Role content, etc.) does not work with the 2024 ruleset, so I'm putting this here for folks to refer to.
Put simply, we (Wizards of the Coast) don't determine whether or not partnered content gets updated to the 2024 rules, our partners do. Until they come to us and say 'yes, we're going to update this', we can't do anything with it.
Those are currently supported only on the 2014 classes. Please let Critical Role know if you'd like to see those added to the 2024 classes.
(As a workaround, though, you could make a homebrew copy of the 2014 subclass to see how it was set up, then rebuild it as a 2024 subclass.)
