There seems to be a change made between Animal Messenger (2014) and Animal Messenger (2024) where the spell now requires a charisma save. This is not reflected in the spell though, where the Attack/DC field for both says "None". Is this an oversight, or is the text wrong and neither requires a save?
The 2024 version does require a saving throw. The DC is the spellcaster's spell save DC, as with all spells.
That "Attack/Save" field is a metadata thing added by D&D Beyond; it's not part of the actual content of the spell from the Player's Handbook. The actual text of the spell is always the primary source for any information about it.

That should indeed show a CHA save. I’ve let the devs know. Thanks!
