Something seems to have changed where when I pick proficiencies the drop down looks differently and no matter which ones I pick I can't add in expertise. There is no drop-down options for expertise, just says select one. Can't finish a character creation because of it.
What skill proficiencies does your character have? Expertise is chosen from that list, so if your character doesn’t yet have any skill proficiencies, there won’t be anything to choose from.
Are there steps to reproduce the issue? What class did you pick? What skills? Etc.
I am seeing a similar problem. Steps:
New character
Choose Bard class
Advance to level 2
Select skill proficiencies under "Core Bard Traits"
Look at the drop-downs under "Expertise" where you select a skill to grant expertise in; they're empty
This only seems to happen if you stay on the Class screen the whole time. Leaving to go to one of the other screens (I went to Background) and coming back causes the Expertise drop-downs to show the correct options. This didn't used to be the case; as recently as a few weeks ago it would automatically update those Expertise drop-downs instantly when you select the skill proficiencies on the same screen.
It also only happens the first time you change each of the skill proficiency drop-downs. After that, if you change one to a different skill (or to nothing) the Expertise drop-downs update immediately without having to leave the screen.
Worth pointing out that a lot of these drop-downs on the Class screen have (relatively recently) stopped being standard HTML <select> elements and started being a more complicated structure that pretends to be a standard drop-down. In contrast to, e.g., the drop-down on the Background screen where you select which background you want, which is still a standard <select> element. It seems likely that some of these issues we've been seeing with the drop-downs not having the right content are related to that change.
I picked Rogue. I was just going through and doing the normal creation, custom, setup and it has happened every time. I tried on both the mobile and site and had the issue. However, I just tried and again and while the issue is still there I found if i move to the next page, like class selection to origin, and back again it will fix itself. I also found the same kind of issue when I picked race like High Elf some of the dropdowns wouldn't work unless I left that page and came back.

I'll pick any of them. I'll add the proficiency but nothing I pick generates on the expertise drop down.

Thank you. You explained this much better than I did.
