Is there a way to change a creature's initiative after combat has started in the Maps VTT, without having to end the encounter or remove and replace the token?
For example, if a player wants to drop to a lower position in the initiative order. I feel like there used to be a way to do this, but I might be thinking of a different system.
I keep hoping to see this in the updates, but as far as I know you cannot change initiative order once combat starts. You can manually change the initiative number before you start combat. That is how we handle the Alert feat.
I have no idea why this feature is missing from the system. It seems like it would be trivial to add the ability for the DM to rearrange the initiative order after combat begins by just dragging characters in the list. Even if modifying the initiative order isn't strictly in the rules-as-written, it's certainly a part of many home campaigns for all number of reasons. Every other digital tabletop gives you that ability. It's absence here is mind-boggling.
I feel like I used to be able to do this by removing the creature or PC from combat, then just re adding them to the combat and setting that one initiative, but now, when you remove it doesn't let you re add. You have to delete the token and re add the token, then add it back to combat. Which isn't a big deal for PC's, since health is tracked from the character sheets, but you'll have to remember the health of a monster if you delete them and re add them... This is still probably easier than ending combat, and re entering combat to re enter all the new initiatives. maybe not being able to re add to combat is a bug, or maybe I too am misremembering.

I remember this too.
Oddly, if you add someone mid-fight, then remove them again, you can re-add them. Unlike anything that started in the fight. I think this is a bug and you should be able to re-add anyone.

You're probably thinking of the Encounter Builder, where you can edit their initiative roll while the combat proceeds.
