Hey guys! I'm not entirely certain if it works this way intentionally, but I was looking to make a Blood Hunter and was toying with the idea of giving them a Dark Bargain from Crooked Moon. Once I went into the Optional Feature Manager in the Character Creator, however, the option for the Dark Bargains just wasn't there. It shows up for every other class, which leads me to question whether this is an error, or if it's intentional due to the Blood Hunter being partnered content, not official. Any help or insight is much appreciated!
Funny to be coming to the post a year later but I am having this exact same issue with my BH character in a campaign right now. Are there any work-arounds or answers to this?
Glad to see I'm not alone in this haha, one of my initial thoughts as to what the issue was, was that there was a mismatch in editions between the two options, i.e. Blood Hunter technically belonging to 5e, and The Crooked Moon Dark Bargain belonging to 5.5e. Of course, testing with other 5e classes, the Dark Bargain option is available, so I'm pretty sure the issue is just that there aren't any "optional class features" for the Blood Hunter, and any external options just go straight to the base classes. Which is still weird because it works with Artificers, so... I'm guessing they just decided not to implement support for it.
As for a work-around, you could probably just make/subscribe to a custom feat and give it to your character via the Feats tab on the actual character page. Got no other ideas beyond that at this point in time, sadly.
The Crooked Moon on DnDBeyond is not compatible with Blood Hunter because it is 5.0, not 5.5. BUT, if you multiclass with a class that is compatible (5.5), make sure you have the Optional Class Features box checked, under the optional class features for the 5.5 class it should show.
Edit: I tested it. It does work. Check the box under Optional Class Features, then go back to Class Features and the Dark Bargains dropdown appears.
Yeah, I played around with creating a Homebrew feat and was able to implement the Dark Bargain that way. It just looks like I may be taking the multiclass level I was planning for a couple levels sooner than intended, assuming my character lives long enough to see that happen lol.
