If the book is shared with you instead, is this character assigned to the campaign that's sharing it?

ModeratorIt’s likely that your account entitlements were not in sync at the time. They do so on their own (which would explain why it appeared later on), but for future reference, you can check the link above to sync it on demand when needed.
