I built an artificer / armorer subclass. The subclass gets heavy armor proficiencies, and can make "arcane armor", which says "No Strength Requirement. If the armor normally has a Strength requirement, the Arcane Armor lacks this requirement for you"
This is great because STR is a dump stat for artificers and plate armor would otherwise be impossible to wear. The idea is that the armor is magically powered to make up for the lack of strength in the character.
However, plate weighs 65 pounds, and still counts against encumbrance. A character with 8 str can only carry 120 pounds before getting encumbered, meaning plate armor will use half the encumbrance
Any chance magically powered arcan armore could be excluded from wncumbrance calculations?
This isn't a bug—nowhere in the rules does it say you ignore the weight of armor for the purpose of encumbrance, you just ignore strength requirements. This would've been feedback you should've given during the playtest period.
The Strength requirement it’s referring to is this one:
Strength. If the table shows a Strength score in the Strength column for an armor type, that armor reduces the wearer’s speed by 10 feet unless the wearer has a Strength score equal to or higher than the listed score.
So that’s currently working as intended.
If your DM agrees the weight shouldn’t count toward your carrying capacity, though, you could click the armor, open the Customize menu in the sidebar, and set its weight to zero.
