I own physical copies of nearly all the D&D books. If I want to make a character with content from those books using D&D Beyond, does that mean I have to re-buy all of the books on the Marketplace? Or is there a way to provide proof of a physical copy in order to gain access to the content digitally?
alternately you could just buy the pieces of contact you want to use as the marketplace allows you to buy the races both as a packet or together the classes subclasses separately or together. Even if you don't decide to buy the books buying the packets is well worth not having to data enter everything yourself.
Truthfully even on a tight budget I would buy at least the Players Handbook whole then pick and choose what else I wanted as I needed it. Please note one other really cool feature is that as you buy stuff the price of the larger products goes down by the amount you spent.

There is no way to redeem a digital purchase with the hardcover one. Technically, you need to buy the digital sources.
However, you could use the homebrew toolset, input the options and use those for private use without any cost.
