I am fairly new to DND, only on my second ever campaign. I'm playing as a Paladin, after buying and reading the players handbook it seemed like it would be fun to use. Paladins are supposed to start with Divine Sense. However, I am not seeing that as an option anywhere for my character, even as I level up. I also took a look for future levels, and it seems like the only oath I can swear is the oath of devotion. Does anyone know why this is? Is it a bug? How can I fix this?
It seems like you may be reading the 2014/5e Player's Handbook but looking at the 2024/5.5e version of the Paladin class. Divine Sense was a class feature granted at level 1 in the 2014 rules, but it's a Channel Divinity option granted at level 2 in the 2024 rules. Which rule set is your campaign using?
The reason you're only seeing one subclass is that you don't own (or have access to through content sharing in a campaign) any of the books that include other subclasses. The free Basic Rules product that everyone has access to has one subclass for each class, which is why you're seeing the Oath of Devotion subclass.
