As mentioned in this thread from 2023, as well as this thread from 2021, the Tentacle of the Deeps ability for the Fathomless subclass for Warlocks (introduced in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything) has incorrect damage listed and automatically rolled in the character page's Actions section.
The damage should be a straight/flat 1d8 cold damage (or 2d8 at level 10) with no bonuses, but it adds your Charisma/Spellcasting ability modifier to the damage automatically for some reason.

Yes, it's a melee spell attack, but the damage is still supposed to be 1d8, not 1d8+5. Ability modifiers are not supposed to be added to the damage of spell attacks unless the feature explicitly says so.
This is a limitation of the current character builder, where it can't create an action that adds an ability modifier to the attack roll but not to the damage; it has to be both or neither. The only way around it currently is to customize the action and add a negative modifier to the damage to cancel it out.

... Did you think you were actually making a point here? Shocking Grasp makes a melee spell attack and you don't add your modifier to that.
