I’m curious if anyone else has run into this because I’m honestly pretty frustrated.
I preordered the Ravenloft: The Horrors Within bundle from D&D Beyond/Wizards of the Coast. The bundle included both the physical and digital products.
Today I received this email from customer support:
“According to our records, the charge for the physical portion of your pre-order did not go through and would need to be re-ordered by you.”
They then offered to refund the digital items so I could reorder the bundle.
Here’s where I’m confused.
I financed the purchase through Affirm, and according to my Affirm account:
I’ve already paid $78.84
I still owe $78.82
Total financed: $157.66
The only thing D&D Beyond says they successfully charged me for was the digital book, which costs $39.99 by itself.
So my questions are:
Where did the other ~$39 that I’ve already paid go?
If Wizards only received payment for the digital content, why has Affirm already collected nearly $79 from me?
Why was my physical preorder canceled instead of someone contacting me before release?
At this point I don’t know if this is an Affirm issue, a D&D Beyond issue, or something that happened between the two.
I’m waiting to hear back from customer support, but this seems like a pretty major problem. I essentially paid half of a financing plan for a bundle that Wizards now says only covered the $39.99 digital purchase.
Has anyone else had their Ravenloft physical preorder canceled like this? If so, how was it resolved?
