Yes it goes against the generally accepted interpretation, but that happens when a loophole is discovered.
I would also refer you to the first chapter of the DMG
Rules Rely on Good-Faith Interpretation. The rules assume that everyone reading and interpreting the rules has the interests of the group’s fun at heart and is reading the rules in that light.
The idea that a subtle read of the wizard's spellcasting feature lets you get around the clearly-stated and exampled rules for multi-classed spellcasters is in no way a good-faith interpretation.
You've said your piece. You've had it explained in detail why you're wrong. I, at least, am not interested in having this discussion yet again.
That is fine, you do you.
That said, I am not wrong RAW, and would like the option to use the rules as written at my table using dnd beyond. Which is not currently possible. Hence the post.
If no one wants to address the issue I suppose it is back to good old pen and paper.
Edit: for the record, at the table I am playing at, RAW is LAW, and RAI is an inconvenience to be avoided. Don't gatekeep our fun.
Your key distinction seems to be the wording around "slots", that the Wizard prepares spells for the slots they have irrespective of the origin of those slots.
However, if you prepared spells as if you were a single classed wizard you would have no other slots available for which to prepare spells. Therefore the multi-class spell slots do not matter.
So, RAW you are incorrect and no amount of "loophole" calling will change that. BUT as far as gatekeeping goes, no one is or can possibly do that. Your table is your table and you could use THAC0 or any other rules you like. DDB is under no obligation to cater to your interpretation of a rule, and frankly cannot be expected to accomodate every possible permutation and adjustment of the rules. It is a tool not the game itself, which is completely open to whatever shenanigans that a table wants to have.
This additional quote from the PHB's multiclass spellcasting section is also important to understand. The table it's referring to is the Multiclass Spellcasting table.
This table might give you spell slots of a higher level than the spells you prepare. You can use those slots but only to cast your lower-level spells.
