Search Bar is straight up Broken

How do you guys fumble this so bad? The search bar on the site doesn't work at all. It gives no results regardless of input. Terrible experience. 

This appears to not be a generalized problem -- I just searched for "magic missile" as a test, and got plenty of results, and even the most relevant first.

Are you using any browser extensions that interact with DDB?

Does search work in a different browser or on a different device?

I agree, the search feature is very lackluster (and it is NOT user error, I am very computer literate). It is also not a browser related issue. Some more specific information:

Strict Exact-Match Formatting: The search engine often fails if you do not use exact spacing or capitalization (e.g., searching for "firebolt" as one word yields nothing, and "contingency" requires an uppercase 'C').

Poor Relevance Sorting: Results frequently clutter top positions with older legacy rule versions, basic rules variants you don't need if you own sourcebooks, or irrelevant lore instead of core book items.

Inflexible Indexing: It struggles heavily with natural phrasing, synonyms, or minor typos, forcing users to memorize exact book terminology.

Slow Performance: The backend index has historically been sluggish to query across a massive database of sourcebooks, source-draped homebrew, and third-party material.

My Recommendation: Create a Gemini Gem to search for information, rules, etc.

The backend is in the process of being cleaned up.

 Keep AI offa DND.

Lol, oh wait, it happened to me! It's not just "lackluster" - there are literally no dragons in Dungeons & Dragons!

Seems to be intermittent, because I did find some "dungeons" just now. But then I got a Gateway Timeout, so likely backend stuff in flux. Fingers crossed that Search is being improved.

 I have concerns. Are they doing live development in production?
