so when I try to add the Steel defender to the players Extra's it won't allow them, it'll allow every other creature available, but when it is the Steel Defender itself it won't allow it. While in the VTT even while they are an Artificer it doesn't let me add that from the player side of the screen but will allow me to summon a Steel defender token instead from the creatures tab. For ease of access do we know if this is possible getting fixed?
The Steel Defender option there is for the original ERFTLW rules. The Extras tab doesn’t currently support statblocks that depend on the player’s own stats, which is the case with the TCOE and EFOTA rules.
If you do want to add it to Extras, I’d recommend creating it as a homebrew monster, then adding it there under “Misc”.

The Extras tab doesn't actually have any support for the Steel Defender, or for any creature that has dynamic stats (i.e., where the creature's stats depend on another creature's stats, or on the level of a spell used to create it).
The best you can do is make a homebrew monster with the current stats and update it whenever your character's relevant stats change.
