I'm not sure if it's just me, or if I'm doing something wrong, but I've been unable to create any backgrounds from scratch. Even if I have every field filled out, it gives me an internal server error. I don't get the same error if I use an existing background as a template, though. The problem is that if I use one, tool or language proficiencies will stay, even if I have it deleted from the respective proficiency list. My solution was to find a background that had the proficiency that I was looking for, and hoped that it wouldn't stack the wrong one. I was lucky in that Entertainer has the musical instrument proficiencies, that has the big proficiency that it wouldn't delete, and that I found it right away, but it's likely an issue everywhere.
On an aside, I feel like the image for Entertainer is antithetical to the background I'm building, which is a more somber one. An amnesiac that's more akin to Geena Davis from The Long Kiss Goodnight, where there is uncertainty that the person who you were will override the person you are, and an image of a halting dacing about just undercuts the tone. It's a minor issue, but building a narrative requires congruity from all aspects, which is why it's significant to me, even if it's not to anyone else. It's not really the pimary focus, just a personal imperative, and an additional reason why the workaround is so unsatisfying.
